Summary of Requirements

Physician: No laws currently require a physician’s involvement.

CPR/AED Training: No laws currently require CPR or AED training.

EMS Notification: Anyone who owns or leases an AED must inform the state department and their local ambulance or first responder service about the AED’s existence, location, and type.

AED Maintenance: The AED must be maintained and tested according to the manufacturer’s standards.

Notification of Use: When using an AED, the person must ensure emergency services are called by dialing 911.
