AED Requirements Summary

Physician Approval
- A doctor’s approval is needed to buy an AED.
CPR/AED Training
- AED owners should encourage potential users to complete CPR and AED training.
EMS Notification
- Businesses that own an AED must register it, including its exact location, with the relevant department within 30 days of purchase.
Maintenance Program
- There are no laws about having a maintenance program for AEDs.
Notification of Use
- There are no laws requiring owners to report when an AED is used.

UT Code § 26-8b-402	2013	Any AED used solely for demonstration or training purposes, which is not operational for emergency use is, except for the provisions of this section, exempt from the provisions of this chapter.The owner of an AED shall clearly mark on the exterior of the AED that the AED is for demonstration or training use only.
